Unit Mission
The Operational Risk Management & Mitigation Advisory Team advises on the identification, assessment, and mitigation of operational risks — integrating risk management into the planning process to ensure that commanders and planners have a clear picture of the risks they are accepting and the measures available to reduce them. The team develops risk management frameworks, advises on risk acceptance decisions, and supports the implementation of mitigation measures that protect personnel, assets, and mission success.
Key Functions
Risk Assessment
Conducting systematic operational risk assessments that identify hazards, evaluate likelihood and consequence, and produce a prioritised risk register that informs planning decisions and resource allocation.
Mitigation Advisory
Advising on the design and implementation of risk mitigation measures — identifying the most cost-effective interventions that reduce risk to acceptable levels while preserving operational effectiveness.
Risk Integration
Integrating risk management into the operational planning process — ensuring that risk assessment is conducted at each planning stage, that residual risks are clearly communicated to decision-makers, and that risk acceptance decisions are documented.
