Unit Mission
The Media & Communications Crisis Management Team advises on the communications strategy and media management required during crises — helping organisations communicate effectively with stakeholders, manage media relations, and protect their reputation while supporting operational objectives. The team develops crisis communications plans, advises on messaging and spokesperson preparation, and provides real-time advisory during active crises to ensure that communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with the overall crisis management strategy.
Key Functions
Communications Planning
Developing crisis communications plans that specify the messages, channels, spokespersons, and approval processes for communicating with different stakeholder groups during a crisis — ensuring that communications are prepared in advance and can be deployed rapidly.
Media Management
Advising on media relations during crises — including the management of media inquiries, the preparation of press statements, the briefing of spokespersons, and the monitoring of media coverage to identify and respond to inaccuracies.
Real-Time Advisory
Providing real-time communications advisory during active crises — advising on the timing and content of communications, monitoring stakeholder sentiment, and helping leadership navigate the communications challenges that arise as the crisis evolves.
