Unit Mission
The Information Operations & Influence Campaign Counter-Advisory Team detects, analyses, and advises on the countering of information operations and influence campaigns conducted by state and non-state actors. The team monitors the information environment for signs of coordinated inauthentic behaviour, disinformation, and influence operations, analyses the tactics and objectives of identified campaigns, and advises on counter-measures that reduce their effectiveness and protect the integrity of the information environment.
Key Functions
Campaign Detection
Monitoring the information environment across social media, news media, and online platforms to detect coordinated inauthentic behaviour, disinformation campaigns, and influence operations targeting organisations or populations.
Attribution & Analysis
Analysing detected influence campaigns to identify their origin, objectives, tactics, and target audiences — and to attribute them to specific state or non-state actors where the evidence supports such attribution.
Counter-Advisory
Advising on counter-measures that reduce the effectiveness of influence campaigns — including counter-narrative development, platform reporting, public awareness, and the strengthening of information environment resilience.
