Influence Operations Detection & Attribution Team
Detecting and attributing influence operations that manipulate public discourse and undermine institutional trust.
Unit Mission
The Influence Operations Detection & Attribution Team detects, analyses, and attributes influence operations conducted by state and non-state actors to manipulate public discourse, undermine institutional trust, and advance political or strategic objectives. The team monitors the information environment for signs of coordinated inauthentic behaviour, analyses the tactics and infrastructure of identified operations, and produces attribution assessments that support informed response and public accountability.
Key Functions
Detection
Monitoring the information environment across social media, news media, and online platforms to detect coordinated inauthentic behaviour and influence operations — identifying the patterns, anomalies, and indicators that distinguish organic from manufactured activity.
Infrastructure Analysis
Analysing the technical infrastructure and operational patterns of detected influence operations — mapping account networks, identifying shared infrastructure, and reconstructing the operational architecture used to conduct the campaign.
Attribution
Producing attribution assessments that identify the actors responsible for influence operations — drawing on technical indicators, behavioural patterns, and contextual intelligence to build a defensible case that supports public accountability.
