Digital Forensics & Incident Attribution Task Force
Conducting digital forensic investigations and attributing cyber incidents to enable informed response and accountability.
Unit Mission
The Digital Forensics & Incident Attribution Task Force conducts digital forensic investigations of cyber incidents to determine what happened, how it happened, and who was responsible. The task force applies forensic methodologies to preserve and analyse digital evidence, reconstructs attack timelines, and produces attribution assessments that support incident response, legal proceedings, and strategic decision-making — providing the evidentiary foundation for accountability and informed response.
Key Functions
Forensic Investigation
Conducting rigorous digital forensic investigations — preserving evidence, analysing system artefacts, and reconstructing attack timelines to establish a clear, defensible account of what occurred during a cyber incident.
Malware Analysis
Analysing malware and malicious tools used in cyber incidents — reverse engineering code to understand functionality, identify indicators of compromise, and extract intelligence about the threat actor's capabilities and objectives.
Attribution
Producing attribution assessments that identify the threat actors responsible for cyber incidents — drawing on technical indicators, behavioural patterns, and intelligence to build a case that supports informed response and accountability.
