Unit Mission

The Youth Leadership & Civic Engagement Unit builds youth leadership capacity and civic engagement — developing the programs, mentorship systems, and civic education initiatives needed to cultivate the leadership skills, civic knowledge, and community commitment of young people. The unit applies youth development, leadership education, and civic engagement methodology to create the pathways through which young people develop the skills and motivation to lead positive change in their communities and society.

Key Functions

Leadership Development

Developing youth leadership programs — designing and delivering the training, mentorship, and experiential learning opportunities that build the leadership skills young people need to drive positive change in their communities.

Civic Education

Advancing civic education — developing the curricula and programs that build civic knowledge, democratic values, and community commitment among young people, preparing them for active citizenship.

Community Action

Facilitating youth community action — supporting young people in designing and leading community improvement projects that develop leadership skills while creating tangible benefits for their communities.
