Unit Mission
The Youth Justice & Juvenile Diversion Analytics Unit advances youth justice reform and juvenile diversion — developing diversion programs, restorative justice approaches, and system reform strategies that reduce youth incarceration and build pathways to positive futures for young people involved in the justice system. The unit applies juvenile justice, restorative justice, and youth development to develop the evidence-based approaches needed to address youth offending while protecting young people from the harmful effects of incarceration.

Diversion Programs
Developing juvenile diversion programs — creating the community-based alternatives to incarceration that address youth offending while keeping young people connected to their families, schools, and communities.
Restorative Justice
Implementing restorative justice approaches — developing the restorative practices that repair harm, rebuild relationships, and address the root causes of youth offending without the damaging effects of incarceration.
System Reform
Advancing youth justice system reform — analyzing system performance, identifying harmful practices, and developing the reform strategies needed to create a youth justice system that prioritizes rehabilitation and positive development.
