Unit Mission
The Youth Homelessness & Housing Support Unit addresses youth homelessness — developing housing support programs, transitional housing systems, and prevention services that reduce youth homelessness and provide stable housing for young people experiencing housing instability. The unit applies housing policy, youth services, and homelessness prevention to develop the comprehensive approaches needed to address the root causes of youth homelessness and provide the stable housing foundation young people need to thrive.
Key Functions
Housing Support
Developing youth housing support programs — creating the transitional housing, rapid rehousing, and housing stability services needed to move young people experiencing homelessness into safe, stable housing.
Prevention Services
Implementing homelessness prevention — developing the early intervention services and family support programs that prevent youth from becoming homeless in the first place.
Stability Programs
Building housing stability programs — providing the ongoing support services, life skills training, and case management needed to help young people maintain stable housing and build independent living skills.
