Unit Mission

The Youth Employment & Workforce Development Unit builds youth employment pathways and workforce skills — developing job training programs, apprenticeship systems, and employment support services that reduce youth unemployment and connect young people with quality employment opportunities. The unit applies workforce development, career counseling, and youth employment policy to develop the comprehensive approaches needed to build the skills, networks, and opportunities that enable young people to access decent work.

Job Training

Developing job training programs — designing and delivering the vocational training, skills development, and certification programs that build the workforce competencies young people need to access quality employment.

Employment Pathways

Building employment pathways — developing the apprenticeship programs, internship opportunities, and employer partnerships that connect young people with quality employment and career development opportunities.

Entrepreneurship Support

Supporting youth entrepreneurship — providing the business development training, mentorship, and seed funding needed to help young people launch and grow their own enterprises.
