Unit Mission

The Senior Services & Geriatric Wellness Unit supports seniors and advances geriatric wellness — developing the home support services, social connection programs, and health promotion initiatives needed to enable seniors to age with dignity, maintain independence, and remain connected to their communities. The unit applies gerontology, elder care, and community development to develop the comprehensive approaches needed to address the social isolation, health challenges, and support needs of aging community members.

Social Connection

Building social connection programs — developing the social activities, community centers, and intergenerational programs that reduce senior isolation and build the social connections essential for wellbeing.

Wellness Promotion

Advancing geriatric wellness — developing the health promotion programs, fitness activities, and preventive care initiatives that support healthy aging and maintain seniors' physical and mental wellbeing.
