Unit Mission
The Homelessness & Housing Support Transitional Unit addresses homelessness — developing the emergency shelter, transitional housing, and support services needed to move people experiencing homelessness into stable, permanent housing. The unit applies housing first principles, trauma-informed care, and case management to develop the comprehensive approaches needed to address both the immediate needs of people experiencing homelessness and the underlying factors that led to their housing instability.
Key Functions
Emergency Shelter
Managing emergency shelter services — providing safe, dignified emergency shelter for people experiencing homelessness while connecting them with the support services needed to move toward stable housing.
Transitional Housing
Developing transitional housing programs — creating the time-limited housing and intensive support services that help people experiencing homelessness stabilize their lives and transition to permanent housing.
Permanent Housing
Advancing permanent housing solutions — developing rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing programs that provide stable, long-term housing for people experiencing chronic homelessness.
