Crime Prevention & Legal Aid Support Metric Unit
Preventing crime and providing legal aid support to build safer communities and ensure access to justice.
Unit Mission
The Crime Prevention & Legal Aid Support Metric Unit prevents crime and provides legal aid support — developing community-based crime prevention programs, coordinating legal aid services, and measuring the effectiveness of interventions that build safer communities and ensure that all community members have access to justice. The unit applies crime prevention, community safety, and legal aid to develop the integrated approaches needed to address the root causes of crime while ensuring that vulnerable community members can access the legal support they need.
Key Functions
Crime Prevention
Developing community crime prevention programs — designing evidence-based interventions that address the risk factors for crime, build community safety, and reduce the conditions that enable criminal activity.
Legal Aid
Coordinating legal aid services — connecting community members with free or low-cost legal representation and advice, ensuring that lack of resources does not prevent access to justice.
Victim Support
Providing victim support services — developing the trauma-informed support, advocacy, and practical assistance needed to help crime victims navigate the justice system and rebuild their lives.
