Unit Mission
The Community Infrastructure Support & Civil Engineering Unit supports community infrastructure and civil engineering needs — providing technical assistance, volunteer labor, and engineering expertise to help communities address infrastructure deficiencies, improve public spaces, and build the physical foundations needed for safe, functional neighborhoods. The unit applies civil engineering, community development, and volunteer management to develop the approaches that leverage technical expertise and community effort to improve neighborhood infrastructure.
Key Functions
Infrastructure Assessment
Assessing community infrastructure needs — evaluating the condition of community facilities, public spaces, and neighborhood infrastructure to identify the most critical needs for improvement.
Volunteer Construction
Coordinating volunteer construction projects — organizing skilled and unskilled volunteers to repair homes, improve public spaces, and build community facilities that strengthen neighborhood infrastructure.
Technical Advisory
Providing technical advisory services — offering engineering expertise and technical guidance to community organizations and residents undertaking infrastructure improvement projects.
