Unit Mission
The Community Healing & Trauma Recovery Psychiatric Unit supports community healing and trauma recovery — developing the psychiatric services, trauma-informed care programs, and community healing initiatives needed to address the collective trauma that affects communities experiencing violence, disaster, and systemic injustice. The unit applies trauma psychiatry, community mental health, and healing-centered approaches to develop the comprehensive programs that support individual and collective healing and build community resilience.

Psychiatric Services
Providing trauma-informed psychiatric services — delivering accessible mental health and psychiatric care that addresses the trauma experienced by community members affected by violence, disaster, and systemic injustice.
Community Healing
Facilitating community healing — developing the collective healing processes, community rituals, and shared recovery programs that address collective trauma and rebuild community cohesion after traumatic events.
Trauma-Informed Care
Advancing trauma-informed care — training community organizations and service providers in trauma-informed approaches that recognize and respond to the pervasive impact of trauma on community members.
