Unit Mission
The Trauma-Informed Support & Psychological Study Task Force provides trauma-informed support and conducts psychological research to improve care for human rights violation survivors — delivering psychological first aid, trauma-focused therapy, and psychosocial support while building the research evidence needed to develop more effective interventions. The task force applies trauma psychology, human rights documentation, and intervention research to provide direct support to survivors and generate the knowledge needed to improve trauma care in humanitarian and post-conflict settings.
Key Functions
Trauma-Informed Care
Delivering trauma-informed support to human rights violation survivors — providing psychological first aid, trauma-focused therapy, and psychosocial support that addresses the complex trauma needs of survivors.
Research
Conducting psychological research on trauma and recovery — studying the impacts of human rights violations on mental health, evaluating intervention effectiveness, and generating the evidence needed to improve trauma care.
System Design
Designing trauma-informed systems — advising organizations and institutions on trauma-informed approaches that recognize and respond to the impacts of trauma on survivors accessing services and support.
