Unit Mission
The Privacy & Cyber-Rights Field Research Task Force researches privacy violations and cyber-rights abuses — conducting field investigations, technical analysis, and legal research to build the evidence base needed for legal challenges, policy reform, and public accountability. The task force applies privacy law, digital forensics, and human rights research to investigate data collection practices, document privacy violations, and develop the research findings that advance privacy protection and cyber-rights.

Field Research
Conducting field research on privacy violations — investigating data collection practices, documenting privacy abuses, and building the empirical evidence base needed for legal challenges and policy reform.
Technical Analysis
Analyzing privacy-invasive technologies — assessing data collection systems, surveillance tools, and digital platforms to identify privacy violations and develop the technical evidence needed for accountability.
Policy Reform
Advancing privacy policy reform — developing research-based policy recommendations, engaging regulators and legislators, and advocating for the legal frameworks needed to protect privacy in the digital age.
