Unit Mission
The IDP Support & Protection Logistics Unit delivers protection and humanitarian assistance to internally displaced persons — people forced to flee their homes by conflict, violence, or disaster who remain within their own country's borders. The unit applies IDP protection frameworks, humanitarian logistics, and camp coordination to ensure that IDPs receive the protection, assistance, and durable solutions they need, while advocating for the rights and dignity of displaced populations with national authorities and international actors.
Key Functions
Protection Monitoring
Monitoring protection conditions for IDPs — assessing displacement sites, documenting protection risks, and advocating with national authorities and humanitarian actors for the measures needed to protect displaced populations.
Camp Coordination
Coordinating camp and settlement management — working with national authorities and humanitarian partners to ensure that displacement sites meet minimum standards for protection, shelter, water, sanitation, and health.
Durable Solutions
Supporting durable solutions for IDPs — facilitating voluntary return, local integration, and settlement in another location, and advocating for the conditions needed for sustainable displacement resolution.
