Unit Mission
The Forced Labor & Modern Slavery Intervention & Extraction Unit identifies and extracts victims of forced labor and modern slavery from exploitative situations — investigating forced labor in supply chains, agricultural settings, domestic work, and other sectors, and coordinating the interventions needed to free victims and hold perpetrators accountable. The unit applies modern slavery law, labor rights, and victim identification to detect forced labor, support victim extraction, and advocate for the supply chain transparency and corporate accountability measures needed to eliminate modern slavery.
Key Functions
Forced Labor Investigation
Investigating forced labor and modern slavery — identifying exploitation in supply chains, agricultural settings, and domestic work, and building the evidence needed for prosecution and victim protection.
Victim Extraction
Coordinating victim extraction from forced labor situations — working with law enforcement, labor inspectors, and social services to free victims from exploitation and connect them with support and legal assistance.
Corporate Accountability
Advancing corporate accountability for modern slavery — advising companies on supply chain due diligence, advocating for mandatory reporting requirements, and supporting litigation against corporations that profit from forced labor.
