Field Informant Identity Masking & Encryption Unit
Protecting the identities of field informants and human rights witnesses through advanced encryption and operational security.
Unit Mission
The Field Informant Identity Masking & Encryption Unit protects the identities of field informants, human rights witnesses, and sources — deploying advanced encryption, operational security protocols, and identity protection measures that enable individuals to provide information and testimony without exposing themselves to retaliation. The unit applies cryptography, operational security, and witness protection to develop the technical and procedural safeguards needed to protect those who take personal risks to advance human rights accountability.
