Conflict-Zone Artifact Recovery & Cultural Heritage Protection Unit

Protecting cultural heritage and recovering looted artifacts from conflict zones to preserve humanity's shared history.

Unit Mission

The Conflict-Zone Artifact Recovery & Cultural Heritage Protection Unit protects cultural heritage and recovers looted artifacts from conflict zones — documenting heritage sites at risk, advocating for their protection under international law, and working with law enforcement and customs authorities to recover and repatriate looted cultural property. The unit applies cultural heritage law, archaeology, and conflict analysis to protect the irreplaceable cultural heritage that armed conflict threatens and to hold accountable those who deliberately destroy or loot cultural property.
