Unit Mission
The Refugee Camp Health Services & WASH Analytics Unit delivers integrated primary health care and water, sanitation, and hygiene services to refugee and displaced populations — protecting them from the preventable diseases that kill more people in humanitarian emergencies than violence. The unit applies humanitarian health, WASH engineering, and epidemiological surveillance to establish health facilities, ensure safe water and sanitation, and monitor disease trends in camp settings where overcrowding and poor sanitation create acute public health risks.
Key Functions
Health Service Delivery
Delivering primary health care in refugee camp settings — establishing health posts and referral systems, managing essential medicines, and providing the preventive and curative services needed to protect displaced populations from preventable illness.
WASH Operations
Ensuring safe water and sanitation in camp settings — designing and monitoring water supply systems, latrine construction, and hygiene promotion programs that prevent waterborne disease outbreaks in overcrowded displacement settings.
Disease Surveillance
Operating communicable disease surveillance in camp settings — monitoring disease trends, detecting outbreak signals, and implementing rapid response to prevent the epidemic spread of communicable diseases in vulnerable displaced populations.
