Psychology of Post-Traumatic Stress & Resilience Analytics
Researching post-traumatic stress and resilience to develop evidence-based interventions for trauma-affected populations.
Unit Mission
The Psychology of Post-Traumatic Stress & Resilience Analytics unit researches the psychological mechanisms of post-traumatic stress and resilience — developing the evidence base needed for effective trauma-focused interventions in humanitarian and post-conflict settings. The unit applies trauma psychology, epidemiology, and intervention research to characterize PTSD prevalence, identify resilience factors, and evaluate the effectiveness of trauma-focused treatments in the diverse cultural and contextual settings where humanitarian mental health programs operate.
Key Functions
PTSD Research
Conducting research on post-traumatic stress in humanitarian populations — assessing PTSD prevalence, characterizing symptom presentations across cultural contexts, and identifying the trauma exposures and risk factors that predict PTSD development.
Intervention Evaluation
Evaluating trauma-focused interventions — conducting rigorous trials of EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, and other evidence-based treatments in humanitarian settings to build the evidence base for effective trauma care.
Resilience Analytics
Analyzing resilience factors in trauma-affected populations — identifying the individual, family, and community characteristics that promote recovery from trauma and developing interventions that strengthen resilience in high-risk populations.
