Unit Mission
The Post-Conflict Demining Amputation & Prosthetics Medical Team provides surgical and rehabilitative care for landmine and explosive remnant of war casualties — delivering amputation surgery, prosthetic fitting, and physical rehabilitation to survivors of landmine accidents in post-conflict communities. The team applies orthopedic surgery, prosthetics and orthotics, and physical rehabilitation to restore function and dignity to landmine survivors, while advocating for mine clearance and victim assistance programs that address the ongoing humanitarian impact of explosive remnants.
Key Functions
Surgical Care
Providing surgical management of landmine and ERW injuries — performing amputation surgery, wound management, and reconstructive procedures that optimize outcomes for explosive injury casualties in post-conflict settings.
Prosthetic Rehabilitation
Delivering prosthetic fitting and rehabilitation services — fabricating appropriate prosthetic limbs, training patients in their use, and providing the physical rehabilitation needed to restore mobility and function to landmine survivors.
Victim Assistance
Advocating for comprehensive victim assistance — supporting the social, economic, and psychological rehabilitation of landmine survivors and engaging with mine action programs to address the ongoing humanitarian impact of explosive remnants.
