Unit Mission

The Climate Change & Extreme Heat Physiology Medical Team investigates the physiological impacts of extreme heat on human health and develops medical protocols and public health interventions that protect vulnerable populations from heat-related illness and death. The team applies exercise physiology, emergency medicine, and environmental health to characterize heat stress risks, develop heat illness prevention protocols, and advise on the clinical management of heat stroke and other heat-related conditions in the context of intensifying climate change.
