Unit Mission
The Chemical Agent & Sarin/VX Antidote Field Response Team provides rapid antidote administration and specialized medical management for casualties of nerve agent and chemical weapon attacks — deploying to mass casualty incidents involving organophosphate nerve agents, blister agents, and other chemical warfare agents to administer life-saving antidotes and manage the acute toxidromes that chemical weapons produce. The team applies chemical warfare medicine, toxicology, and mass casualty management to save lives in the critical minutes following chemical agent exposure.
Key Functions
Antidote Deployment
Deploying nerve agent antidotes — administering atropine, pralidoxime, and diazepam to organophosphate nerve agent casualties within the critical treatment window, and managing the antidote logistics needed for mass casualty chemical incidents.
Casualty Management
Managing chemical warfare casualties — triaging patients by toxidrome severity, implementing agent-specific treatment protocols, and coordinating the medical evacuation of casualties to definitive care facilities.
Mass Casualty Operations
Operating in mass chemical casualty environments — establishing treatment sectors, managing patient flow, and maintaining medical operations under the operational constraints of chemical contamination zones.
