Unit Mission
The CBRN Health Response & Decontamination Unit provides specialized medical response and mass decontamination capabilities for incidents involving chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear agents — protecting responders and affected populations from the acute health effects of CBRN exposure. The unit applies CBRN medicine, decontamination engineering, and emergency medical operations to rapidly assess exposure, implement decontamination protocols, and provide the specialized medical care needed to manage CBRN casualties.
Key Functions
Decontamination Operations
Conducting mass decontamination operations for CBRN incidents — establishing decontamination corridors, managing patient flow, and implementing agent-specific decontamination protocols that reduce secondary contamination and protect responders.
Medical Treatment
Providing specialized medical treatment for CBRN casualties — administering antidotes, managing acute toxidromes, and coordinating the medical care needed for patients exposed to chemical agents, radiological materials, or biological threats.
Incident Support
Supporting CBRN incident command — providing technical expertise on agent characteristics, health effects, and protective actions to enable informed decision-making during complex CBRN incidents.
