Unit Mission

The Bio-Terror & Weaponized Pathogen Containment Task Force detects, characterizes, and contains weaponized biological agents — providing the specialized response capability needed to manage bio-terrorist attacks and prevent the mass casualties that weaponized pathogens can cause. The task force applies biodefense medicine, forensic microbiology, and emergency public health to identify biological threat agents, implement containment measures, and coordinate the medical countermeasure deployment needed to protect exposed populations.

Key Functions

Threat Detection

Detecting and characterizing biological threat agents — applying environmental sampling, laboratory diagnostics, and clinical pattern recognition to identify weaponized pathogens and distinguish bio-terrorist attacks from natural disease outbreaks.

Containment Operations

Implementing bio-incident containment operations — establishing isolation zones, managing exposed populations, and deploying prophylaxis and treatment to prevent secondary spread from weaponized pathogen releases.

Forensic Investigation

Conducting forensic investigation of bio-terrorist incidents — collecting and preserving biological evidence, characterizing agent characteristics, and supporting law enforcement and intelligence investigations of biological attacks.
