Collecting and analyzing intelligence on WMD programs to support nonproliferation and arms control objectives.
Unit Mission
The WMD Nonproliferation Intelligence Task Force collects and analyzes intelligence on weapons of mass destruction programs — developing the intelligence assessments needed to support nonproliferation policy, arms control verification, and the diplomatic and operational measures needed to prevent the spread of nuclear, chemical, biological, and radiological weapons. The task force applies WMD intelligence methodology, technical analysis, and nonproliferation expertise to assess WMD programs and develop the intelligence products needed for effective nonproliferation action.
Key Functions
WMD Assessment
Assessing WMD programs — analyzing nuclear, chemical, biological, and radiological weapons programs to evaluate capabilities, development status, and the risks they pose to international security.
Proliferation Intelligence
Developing proliferation intelligence — tracking the networks, suppliers, and pathways through which WMD materials, technology, and expertise spread, enabling targeted interdiction.
Verification Support
Supporting arms control verification — providing the technical intelligence and analytical support needed for arms control inspections, treaty compliance monitoring, and nonproliferation diplomacy.
