Unit Mission
The Strategic Foresight & Scenario Planning Team develops strategic foresight and scenario plans — applying futures methodology, scenario analysis, and strategic planning to help decision-makers understand the range of possible futures they may face and develop strategies robust across multiple scenarios. The team applies foresight science, systems thinking, and strategic planning to produce the scenario frameworks and strategic options that enable organizations to navigate uncertainty and build adaptive capacity.

Scenario Development
Developing strategic scenarios — applying futures methodology to construct plausible, challenging, and diverse scenarios that capture the range of futures decision-makers may face, enabling strategy development robust across uncertainty.
Horizon Scanning
Conducting horizon scanning for emerging trends — systematically monitoring the strategic environment for weak signals, emerging trends, and potential disruptions that could shape future conditions.
Strategic Planning
Supporting strategic planning with foresight — integrating scenario analysis and futures thinking into strategic planning processes, helping organizations develop strategies that remain effective across a range of possible futures.
