Unit Mission

The Sovereign Immunity & Jurisdiction Negotiation Task Force navigates sovereign immunity and jurisdiction issues — providing the legal analysis, negotiation expertise, and diplomatic engagement needed to resolve complex questions of sovereign immunity, jurisdictional conflicts, and international legal cooperation that arise in humanitarian, accountability, and governance operations. The task force applies international law, diplomatic negotiation, and legal strategy to develop the frameworks and agreements needed to enable effective international legal cooperation while respecting sovereignty.

Analyzing sovereign immunity issues — providing the legal analysis needed to navigate complex questions of sovereign immunity, diplomatic immunity, and jurisdictional conflicts in international operations.

Jurisdiction Negotiation

Negotiating jurisdictional arrangements — developing the status of forces agreements, memoranda of understanding, and diplomatic arrangements needed to resolve jurisdictional conflicts and enable effective international operations.
