Societal Polarization & Cultural Fragmentation Resolution Unit
Analyzing societal polarization and cultural fragmentation to develop strategies for social cohesion and conflict prevention.
Unit Mission
The Societal Polarization & Cultural Fragmentation Resolution Unit analyzes societal polarization and cultural fragmentation — developing diagnostic frameworks, polarization measurement tools, and social cohesion strategies that address the drivers of division and build the bridges needed for peaceful, functional societies. The unit applies social psychology, conflict analysis, and peacebuilding to understand the dynamics of polarization, identify the interventions that reduce division, and develop the social cohesion strategies needed to prevent polarization from escalating into conflict.
Key Functions
Polarization Analysis
Analyzing societal polarization dynamics — measuring and mapping political, social, and cultural polarization to understand its drivers, identify the most divided communities, and assess the risk of escalation to conflict.
Cohesion Strategy
Developing social cohesion strategies — designing the dialogue programs, bridge-building initiatives, and institutional reforms needed to reduce polarization and strengthen the social bonds that hold diverse societies together.
Conflict Prevention
Developing conflict prevention strategies — identifying the polarization trajectories most likely to escalate to violence and designing the early interventions needed to de-escalate tensions before they reach the threshold of conflict.
