Unit Mission

The Poverty Reduction & Social Protection Metric Team measures poverty reduction progress and develops social protection metrics — designing measurement frameworks, tracking SDG indicators, and producing the analytical products needed to assess progress toward poverty elimination and universal social protection. The team applies poverty measurement, social protection analysis, and SDG monitoring to develop the metrics and monitoring systems needed to hold governments accountable for poverty reduction commitments and guide social protection investment.

Poverty Measurement

Developing poverty measurement frameworks — designing the multidimensional poverty metrics and monitoring systems needed to track progress toward poverty elimination and identify the populations most in need.

Social Protection Analysis

Analyzing social protection systems — assessing the coverage, adequacy, and effectiveness of social protection programs to identify gaps and develop recommendations for universal social protection.

SDG Monitoring

Monitoring SDG progress on poverty and social protection — tracking SDG indicators, assessing country progress, and producing the accountability reports needed to maintain political commitment to poverty reduction goals.
