Unit Mission
The Global Criminal Justice & War Crimes Prosecution Task Force advances global criminal justice and war crimes prosecution — collecting evidence of atrocities, supporting international criminal investigations, and engaging the international legal mechanisms needed to hold perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide accountable. The task force applies international criminal law, evidence collection methodology, and legal advocacy to build the cases and international support needed for effective accountability for the most serious international crimes.
Key Functions
Evidence Collection
Collecting war crimes evidence — documenting atrocities, preserving evidence, and building the evidentiary record needed for international criminal prosecutions of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
Investigation Support
Supporting international criminal investigations — providing evidence, analysis, and expertise to international criminal courts and tribunals investigating the most serious violations of international humanitarian law.
Accountability Advocacy
Advocating for accountability — engaging governments, international organizations, and civil society to build the political will needed for effective accountability for international crimes.
