Unit Mission

The Democracy, Human Rights & Labor Rights Diplomatic Unit advances democracy, human rights, and labor rights through diplomatic engagement — conducting advocacy, building coalitions, and engaging governments and international organizations to strengthen democratic institutions, protect human rights, and advance labor rights globally. The unit applies human rights diplomacy, democracy promotion, and labor rights advocacy to develop the diplomatic strategies and international partnerships needed to advance universal rights and democratic governance.

Rights Diplomacy

Conducting human rights diplomacy — engaging governments, international organizations, and civil society to advance human rights protections, challenge abuses, and build the international consensus needed for rights accountability.

Democracy Promotion

Promoting democratic governance — supporting democratic institutions, electoral processes, and civil society organizations through diplomatic engagement and technical assistance that strengthens democratic resilience.

Labor Rights Advocacy

Advancing labor rights through diplomacy — engaging governments and international organizations to strengthen labor protections, combat forced labor, and advance the international labor rights standards that protect workers globally.
