Unit Mission
The Counterterrorism & Countering Violent Extremism Strategy Team develops counterterrorism and CVE strategies — analyzing terrorist organizations, assessing radicalization pathways, and developing the comprehensive strategies needed to prevent and counter violent extremism through both security measures and addressing root causes. The team applies terrorism studies, CVE methodology, and strategic planning to develop the integrated approaches that combine security operations with prevention, deradicalization, and community resilience to effectively counter violent extremism.
Key Functions
Threat Analysis
Analyzing terrorist organizations and threats — assessing terrorist group capabilities, intentions, and networks to develop the intelligence needed for effective counterterrorism strategy and operations.
CVE Strategy
Developing CVE strategies — designing the prevention programs, counter-narrative campaigns, and community resilience initiatives that address the root causes of radicalization and reduce the appeal of violent extremism.
Deradicalization
Designing deradicalization programs — developing the intervention frameworks and support systems needed to help individuals disengage from violent extremism and reintegrate into society.
