Mission Statement
The Women's Rights & Gender-Based Violence Intervention Team works to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and advance women's rights in conflict, humanitarian, and development contexts. The unit provides survivor-centered support, documents GBV incidents and patterns, advocates for legal and institutional reform, and builds the community-level prevention programs that address the root causes of gender-based violence and discrimination.
Key Functions
Survivor Support
Providing survivor-centered support to GBV survivors — safe referral pathways, psychosocial support, legal assistance, and medical care coordination — that prioritize survivor safety, dignity, and agency.
GBV Documentation
Documenting GBV incidents and patterns — including conflict-related sexual violence — building the evidentiary record for accountability proceedings and the data needed to design effective prevention responses.
Legal Reform Advocacy
Advocating for legal and institutional reforms that protect women's rights — criminalizing GBV, reforming discriminatory laws, strengthening justice system responses, and advancing women's political participation.
