Mission Statement

The Vector-Borne Disease Intervention & Epidemiological Unit conducts integrated epidemiological investigation and vector control operations against mosquito-, tick-, and other arthropod-borne diseases — including malaria, dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and Lyme disease. The unit combines entomological surveillance, vector population mapping, and targeted control interventions with clinical epidemiology to reduce transmission in affected communities and prevent geographic spread.

Vector Surveillance

Conducting systematic entomological surveillance to map vector populations, identify high-transmission risk areas, and monitor insecticide resistance patterns that affect control intervention effectiveness.

Integrated Vector Control

Implementing integrated vector management programs combining indoor residual spraying, larval source reduction, biological control, and personal protection measures tailored to local vector ecology.

Epidemiological Investigation

Conducting field epidemiological investigations of vector-borne disease clusters to identify transmission hotspots, risk factors, and the environmental conditions driving elevated incidence.
