Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) Strike & Robotics Team
Locating and extracting survivors from collapsed structures using elite USAR techniques and robotic systems.
Mission Statement
The Urban Search & Rescue Strike & Robotics Team deploys elite USAR specialists and advanced robotic systems to locate and extract survivors from collapsed structures following earthquakes, explosions, and building failures. The team integrates acoustic search devices, search cameras, victim location technology, and remotely operated robots to access voids inaccessible to human rescuers, maximizing survivor recovery in the critical hours following structural collapse.
Key Functions
Victim Location
Deploying acoustic listening devices, search cameras, and victim location technology to detect survivors in collapsed structures, mapping void spaces and prioritizing extraction sequences.
Robotic Search Operations
Operating remotely controlled robots and drones to explore voids, rubble fields, and confined spaces inaccessible to human rescuers, transmitting real-time video and sensor data to guide extraction operations.
Technical Extrication
Executing complex technical extrications of trapped survivors, applying shoring, cutting, and lifting techniques to safely remove victims from entrapment without causing secondary collapse.
