Mission Statement
The Refugee Camp Health Services & WASH Analytics Unit provides integrated health services and water, sanitation, and hygiene analytics for refugee camps and displaced population settlements — the high-density, resource-constrained environments where communicable disease outbreaks cause disproportionate mortality. The unit establishes primary health care systems, conducts WASH infrastructure assessment and improvement, and operates disease surveillance systems that provide early warning of outbreak conditions in camp settings.
Key Functions
Primary Health Care
Establishing and operating primary health care systems in refugee camp settings — outpatient clinics, immunization programs, maternal and child health services — that address the leading causes of preventable mortality.
WASH Analytics
Assessing and improving water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure in camp settings, applying WASH analytics to identify the highest-risk deficiencies and prioritize interventions that reduce disease transmission.
Camp Disease Surveillance
Operating disease surveillance systems in camp settings that provide early warning of outbreak conditions — monitoring alert thresholds for cholera, measles, meningitis, and other high-consequence camp diseases.
