Mission Statement
The Ransomware & Digital Extortion Defense Analytics Unit provides intelligence-led defense against ransomware operators and digital extortion syndicates targeting governments, critical infrastructure, and commercial organizations. The unit analyzes ransomware strains, maps criminal infrastructure, develops decryption capabilities where possible, and advises organizations on hardening measures that break the ransomware kill chain before encryption is executed.
Key Functions
Strain Analysis & Decryption
Reverse engineering ransomware strains to identify encryption weaknesses, recover decryption keys where possible, and develop detection signatures that enable early identification of active campaigns.
Criminal Infrastructure Mapping
Mapping the command-and-control infrastructure, payment channels, and affiliate networks of ransomware groups to enable targeted disruption operations and law enforcement takedowns.
Incident Response & Recovery
Providing immediate incident response support to ransomware victims — containing the spread, preserving evidence, advising on negotiation strategy, and coordinating recovery to minimize operational downtime.
