Mission Statement

The High-Speed Rail & Transit Network Defense Engineering Team designs and implements security engineering solutions for high-speed rail corridors, urban transit networks, and cross-border rail infrastructure. The team addresses the unique security challenges of high-density transit environments — including explosive device placement, vehicle ramming, and cyber attacks on signaling and control systems — through a combination of physical hardening, surveillance integration, and rapid response protocols.

Designing physical security measures for rail and transit infrastructure — blast-resistant barriers, surveillance integration, access control — that protect passengers without impeding normal operations.

Cyber-Physical Security

Assessing and hardening the cyber-physical interfaces of rail signaling, control, and communications systems against attacks that could cause collisions, derailments, or service disruption.

Emergency Response Design

Developing emergency response protocols for mass casualty incidents in transit environments, including evacuation procedures, first responder access, and passenger communication systems.
