Mission Statement
The Healthcare-Associated Infection Data & Intervention Task Force applies advanced surveillance analytics and infection prevention expertise to reduce healthcare-associated infections — including MRSA, C. difficile, CRE, and central line-associated bloodstream infections — in hospital and healthcare facility settings. The unit conducts infection prevention assessments, implements evidence-based intervention bundles, and builds the data infrastructure needed for sustained HAI reduction.
Key Functions
Surveillance Analytics
Building and operating HAI surveillance data systems that provide real-time visibility into infection rates, pathogen trends, and risk factors — enabling early detection of emerging problems and measurement of intervention impact.
Intervention Implementation
Implementing evidence-based infection prevention intervention bundles — hand hygiene programs, device care protocols, environmental cleaning standards — with the implementation science rigor needed for sustained behavior change.
Antimicrobial Stewardship
Advising on antimicrobial stewardship programs that optimize antibiotic use, reduce selection pressure for resistant organisms, and preserve the effectiveness of last-resort antimicrobials.
