The Hazard Risk Assessment & Mitigation Planning Task Force conducts comprehensive multi-hazard risk assessments for communities, infrastructure systems, and critical facilities, translating risk data into actionable mitigation plans that reduce vulnerability before disasters strike. The unit integrates natural hazard science, infrastructure analysis, and community resilience assessment to prioritize mitigation investments that deliver the greatest reduction in life safety and economic risk.

Conducting comprehensive multi-hazard risk assessments that quantify the probability and consequence of natural and human-caused hazards, identifying the highest-risk scenarios for mitigation prioritization.
Mitigation Planning
Developing evidence-based hazard mitigation plans that translate risk assessment findings into prioritized, fundable mitigation actions with clear implementation timelines and responsible parties.
Resilience Building
Assessing and strengthening community resilience — the capacity to absorb, adapt to, and recover from disaster impacts — through infrastructure hardening, social capital development, and preparedness investment.
