Mission Statement
The Field Epidemiology & High-Containment Pathogen Analytics Team provides specialized field epidemiology and laboratory analytics capability for outbreaks involving high-consequence pathogens — Ebola, Marburg, Nipah, and other BSL-3/4 agents — where standard public health response capacity is insufficient. The team deploys with mobile high-containment laboratory systems, conducts rigorous epidemiological investigations under extreme biosafety conditions, and provides the analytical intelligence needed to contain the most dangerous known pathogens.
Key Functions
High-Containment Field Labs
Deploying mobile BSL-3/4 laboratory systems to outbreak sites, enabling high-consequence pathogen diagnosis and characterization in the field without the delays of sample transport to fixed facilities.
Epidemiological Investigation
Conducting rigorous epidemiological investigations of high-consequence pathogen outbreaks under extreme biosafety conditions, mapping transmission chains and identifying risk factors that guide containment strategy.
Biosafety Enforcement
Developing and enforcing biosafety protocols for field operations involving high-consequence pathogens, protecting response personnel and preventing laboratory-acquired infections that could amplify the outbreak.
