Mission Statement
The Digital Rights, Anti-Surveillance & Cyber-Censorship Defense Unit defends the digital rights of activists, journalists, and civil society organizations facing state surveillance, internet shutdowns, and cyber-censorship. The unit provides digital security support, documents surveillance and censorship abuses, advocates for legal frameworks that protect privacy and free expression online, and develops the technical countermeasures that help at-risk individuals evade state monitoring.

Providing digital security support to at-risk journalists, activists, and civil society organizations — threat assessments, secure communications tools, device security, and incident response for targeted surveillance.
Surveillance Documentation
Documenting state surveillance abuses — spyware deployment, mass surveillance programs, and targeted monitoring of civil society — building the evidence base for accountability and legal reform.
Censorship Monitoring
Monitoring internet shutdowns and cyber-censorship — documenting blocking, throttling, and content removal — and advocating for legal frameworks that protect freedom of expression online.
