Mission Statement

The Cyber-Physical Systems & IoT Hardware Security Unit addresses the security vulnerabilities of connected devices, embedded systems, and cyber-physical platforms that increasingly control physical environments — from smart building systems and medical devices to industrial sensors and autonomous vehicles. The unit conducts hardware security assessments, firmware analysis, and supply chain integrity verification to identify and remediate vulnerabilities before they can be exploited for physical-world impact.

Key Functions

Hardware Security Assessment

Conducting physical and logical security assessments of connected devices and embedded systems, identifying hardware-level vulnerabilities including debug interfaces, insecure boot processes, and side-channel attack surfaces.

Firmware Analysis

Extracting and reverse engineering device firmware to identify hardcoded credentials, unpatched vulnerabilities, and backdoors that could enable unauthorized access or control of cyber-physical systems.

Supply Chain Integrity

Verifying the integrity of hardware and firmware supply chains to detect counterfeit components, malicious implants, and unauthorized modifications introduced during manufacturing or distribution.
