Critical Infrastructure Cyber-Impact Recovery Team
Restoring critical infrastructure operations following major cyber attacks with minimal downtime.
Mission Statement
The Critical Infrastructure Cyber-Impact Recovery Team provides rapid response and recovery support to critical infrastructure operators following major cyber attacks that cause operational disruption. The unit combines technical incident response with operational continuity planning, working alongside infrastructure operators to contain damage, restore essential services, and implement hardening measures that prevent recurrence — minimizing the real-world impact of cyber attacks on essential public services.
Key Functions
Rapid Incident Response
Deploying immediately to critical infrastructure operators following a major cyber attack, containing the incident, preserving forensic evidence, and establishing a clear picture of the scope and impact.
Service Restoration
Coordinating the technical restoration of critical infrastructure systems — prioritizing essential services, managing clean rebuild processes, and validating system integrity before returning operations to normal.
Post-Incident Hardening
Implementing targeted hardening measures in the immediate aftermath of an incident to close the vulnerabilities exploited in the attack and reduce the risk of recurrence while full remediation is planned.
