CBRN & Hazardous Materials Incident Field Response Team
Responding to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and hazmat incidents with specialized field teams.
Mission Statement
The CBRN & Hazardous Materials Incident Field Response Team provides specialized response capability for incidents involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and conventional hazardous materials — from industrial accidents and transportation spills to deliberate CBRN attacks. The team deploys with advanced detection equipment, personal protective equipment, and decontamination systems to identify agents, protect responders, decontaminate victims, and mitigate the release source.
Key Functions
Agent Detection
Deploying advanced detection equipment to identify chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear agents at incident scenes, providing rapid characterization of the hazard to guide protective action decisions.
Mass Decontamination
Establishing and operating mass decontamination corridors for large numbers of contaminated victims, integrating decontamination with medical triage to prioritize the most critically exposed individuals.
Source Mitigation
Conducting source mitigation operations to stop or reduce the release of hazardous materials — plugging leaks, neutralizing agents, and establishing containment — while protecting responders with appropriate PPE.
