Unit Mission
The Oceans, Environment & Scientific Affairs Diplomacy Team advances science diplomacy and international environmental cooperation — building the scientific partnerships, information-sharing frameworks, and multilateral agreements needed to address global ecological challenges. The team engages with international scientific bodies, environmental treaty secretariats, and national science agencies to strengthen the science-policy interface, promote evidence-based environmental governance, and build the international scientific capacity needed for effective global environmental management.

Science Diplomacy
Advancing science diplomacy — building scientific partnerships, facilitating data sharing, and developing the international scientific cooperation frameworks that enable collective action on global environmental challenges.
Treaty Support
Supporting international environmental treaty processes — providing scientific analysis, facilitating negotiations, and advising on the technical provisions of multilateral environmental agreements.
Capacity Building
Building scientific capacity in developing countries — supporting the development of environmental monitoring systems, research institutions, and science-policy interfaces needed for effective participation in international environmental governance.
