Unit Mission
The Cyberspace, Digital Policy & Tech-Diplomacy Task Force advances international cyber norms, digital governance frameworks, and technology diplomacy — working to establish the rules of responsible state behavior in cyberspace, promote internet freedom, and develop the international cooperation mechanisms needed to address cybercrime, disinformation, and digital rights violations. The task force engages with UN cybersecurity processes, multistakeholder internet governance bodies, and bilateral digital partnerships to advance a secure, open, and rights-respecting digital environment.
Key Functions
Cyber Norms
Advancing international cyber norms — engaging with UN GGE and OEWG processes, regional organizations, and bilateral partners to develop and promote norms of responsible state behavior in cyberspace.
Internet Governance
Engaging with multistakeholder internet governance — participating in ICANN, IGF, and other bodies to advance an open, interoperable, and rights-respecting internet governance model.
Digital Rights
Advocating for digital rights — promoting freedom of expression online, opposing internet shutdowns, and developing international frameworks that protect privacy and prevent the misuse of surveillance technology.
